Christmas for CAMHS Paper Chain Project 2023

This year the UK charity Christmas For CAMHS ran their yearly campaign to improve young people’s experiences of inpatient mental health CAMHS wards over the understandably challenging and isolating festive period.

This year’s project was calling for people to design paper chains that young people on CAMHS wards can construct together and hopefully prove to be an enjoyable festive group activity.

After seeing Christmas for CAMHS’ posts on social media for paper chain designs, I knew that it was something that I would like to become involved with. As a young person who has been under CAMHS lifesaving services for the past five years, I could also see from experience the enjoyment the young people on the wards would likely feel.

So I reached out to the friendly team at Christmas for CAMHS and was warmly responded to. The team suggested that as I was designing the paper chains digitally it might be an idea to leave elements that the young people could colour in. I loved the idea so ensured to build the colouring-in elements into the design.

50 cut-out festive paper chains later, I popped them in the post for the team to pass on to a CAMHS ward.

A brilliant project and definitely very rewarding!
